• New grinding facility at the Nobres plant will increase production capacity by 60%, to a total of 1.2 million tonnes of cement per year.
• Expansion in Nobres will also increase the site’s aglime production capacity by more than 20%, to 900,000 tonnes per year.
• We will install a tire shredding plant in Cuiabá to support sustainable waste disposal and reduce CO2 emissions.

We announced today a R$330 million investment in the state of Mato Grosso, including expansions and the modernization of its sites located in the towns of Cuiabá and Nobres. Construction financed by these investments will start in 2025 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. In addition to maintaining the more than 700 current jobs at our two plants in Mato Grosso, we estimate that these construction projects will create more than 150 direct and indirect jobs in the state.

At the Nobres plant, a new cement mill will increase the site’s production capacity by 60%, from the current 750,000 tonnes/year to 1.2 million tonnes of cement per year. We will also increase the aglime production capacity of this plant by more than 20%, from the current 740,000 tonnes/year to 900,000 tonnes/year of this important agricultural product. The expansion and modernization in Nobres also include a new product storage warehouse and improvements to its logistics infrastructure.

At the Cuiabá site, through Verdera (our business unit dedicated to sustainable waste management and disposal), we will invest in modernization and in a used tire shredding facility. After shredding, these tires are sent to be co-processed in our cement production kilns. Co-processing is a technology used worldwide to properly dispose of various types of waste, which are transformed into energy for the cement industry, replacing petroleum coke, a fossil fuel, and reducing the emissions of
greenhouse gases, such as CO2. The collected and shredded tires are 100% reused. In addition to being a safe and sustainable solution, co-processing prevents improper disposal of tires in the environment or in landfills.

“These investments strengthen our presence in Mato Grosso and demonstrate our long-term partnership with the state. We already have an established operation in the Central-West region that can grow even further. These expansions and
modernizations will increase our competitiveness and our production and storage capacity, and improve our efficiency to better serve our customers and the consumer market, while also reducing CO2 emissions. In this way, we contribute to the economic, social and environmental development of the state and the entire region,” said Osvaldo Ayres Filho, our global CEO.

Our expansions in the state of Mato Grosso are part of our comprehensive investment program in Brazil, focused on modernization, capacity growth, competitiveness and decarbonization. Announced in early 2024, the plan includes R$5 billion in investments to be deployed by 2028.

With a pioneering history in the cement industry in Mato Grosso, our plant in Nobres was inaugurated in 1991. In addition to producing Itaú cement, the Nobres site also supports our strategy for the Brazilian agribusiness sector, manufacturing products
from Viter, our agricultural solutions brand.

The Cuiabá cement plant was inaugurated by us in 2013 to meet the growing demand of the construction sector in the region. In 2019, we started operating a Votomassa plant integrated with this site, located in the capital of the state of Mato Grosso. The plant produces adhesive mortars for different types of indoor and outdoor applications on floors and walls, ceramics, porcelain tiles and other materials.
